A mask gold rimmed and taut

I travelled so as I could see

Destiny proclaimed

What I looked like from Calvary

Chiding all the while

How dare I leave my family home

How could I support

Loved ones in absentia

I shan’t; I would retort

Best be lost – away – I say

And make up what is gone

Silver in the dining room

With gilt-edged plates embossed

I once was here – engravings say

I leave a mark (of sorts)

Like Olivia’s face (proclaimed)

A mask – gold rimmed – and taut
