It came but in an instant And left as quickly too And what one saw Was from before And now well out of view Do I stand a life departed A life well past (beyond) Or do I wonder - Cast asunder Embracing to abscond Accept conceited intervention Thoughts from yesteryear Or wail in pain But then refrain From a life of windswept fear I could not shed a tear that day – Life closer than considered When one could tame – Calming the flame Of hostility – rescinded And that delight brought sunshine's smile From a past with furrowed brow So I could stand – And – yes – command A life of here and now.
Beautifully written, captures the fleeting beauty of life.
