Two friends (forgotten)
went to the beach
where they heard other
children let out a screech
One ran into the water
and danced on the sea
the other stood barefoot
under the shade of a tree
Wantonly enjoying
the sun, surf and sand
one gestured the other
with a wave of his hand
Two friends (forgotten)
in the heat of the day –
one exuberant –
the other restrained
Come down from the mountain
to the water to play
the shade of the tree will
turn to sunshine one day.
