The lonely mind lay on the bed –
Reliving thoughts of yesterday
What brought me here –
Why have I travelled so
How stoic was my time
From there to now
The window flew – the valley ached
Yet the river told the story
Streaming of a road I’d travelled less
The road that led to the glory
Of the inner sanctum
Deified – no – stupefied
Desire wound its way between
What was seen by only you and I
In darkness – where your eyes were mine –
And only mine – to glean
The lonely mind thought of simpler times
When sentiment met purpose
They brought one’s yearning
To the field where they met amour –
Stay the course and pray
One won’t desert it
